Step by step demonstration of my miniature painting “Raccoon”

Here I have done an ink drawing of the Raccoon in Sepia India ink with a technical pen. I also used an ink wash on the background. (Remember, the original is 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches)
Here I have begun to layer in colored pencil, burnishing (a technique of rubbing the colored pencil to blend it) as I go. (Remember, the original is 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches)
More layers of colored pencil...
Finished painting. I scratch through some layers of pencil to highlight white hairs and I also sometimes add white Acrylic to strengthen the piece. (Actual size is 3.5 x 2.5”)
